| Havana, Cuba. - The news, although baffling, are not something unusual within US justice system.
A federal judge dropped the charges against 5 armed mercenaries of US agency Blackwaters, who killed 17 civilians in Baghdad in 2007.
This is how Washington started 2010. It turned its back on the universal claim for punishment to those liable for crimes perpetrated by its soldiers and secret agents in Arab lands.
The argument of 90 pages points out that US Government breached the rights of the mercenaries by using the defendants’ declarations. These mercenary criminals were in fact protected by the immunity granted by the rulers of that country.
Blackwaters was the previous corporate name of the current Xe agency. During many years, it has hired and supplied paramilitary forces to areas where US armed forces have waged wars. Their mission was the protection of convoys, buildings, military facilities and governments' officials.
The so-called US justice handles these cases with such shamelessness that even the Iraqi government showed its concern and wanted the mercenaries judged in Baghdad.
The New Year was also shaken by the attack of Afghan resistance on a CIA base in that Asian nation, invaded and occupied by Pentagon and NATO troops.
The attack took the life of seven CIA agents. The Pentagon posted them in that spot to guide the bombings of unmanned flights that have killed so many civilians in Pakistani and Afghan villages.
As a paradox of life, even President Barack Obama has vowed to avenge the death of CIA agents. However, he said nothing about the unscrupulous performance of his country’s justice that has just discharged mercenaries who caused dozens of civilian casualties in Iraq.
Once again, the justice without justice that reigns in the country of wars and invasions is exposed.
