A Bastion for Peace

Havana
Province, Cuba. - The genetic information of human
beings is made up by 23 couples of chromosomes.
However, in the particular case of Cubans, they
have 24, because their double helix is made of
strands of unwavering courage instead of deoxyribonucleic
acid.
When an aggressive gene
threatens the peaceful genome of the little Cuban
Island, its children unobtrusively activate a
courageous defensive chain. This defense is capable
of neutralizing the bully viral invader that causes
wars, misery and hunger in today’s world.
That’s why today
the intelligence of the bacteria Goliath, in other
words, Yankee Imperialism, ought to follow closely
the development of the traditional Exercise “Bastion
2009” in the solidary Republic of Cuba.
Of course, neither the
satellites nor the unmanned spy aircrafts that
regularly pry into the green cayman will discover
state-of-the-art weapons only seen in the Stars
War movies. They will detect something else that
they know very well: a defensive system painstakingly
organized in every millimeter of this humanitarian
nation.
In spite of their intelligence
assets, mighty naval fleets and overly armed marines,
US real power will never be able to decipher the
genetic information of the Cubans. Nevertheless,
the answer is folkloricaly musical: a tin beat
unleashes a conga that not even a nuclear tsunami
can stop.
And Bastion 2009
is like the horn blow that spurred the mambises
of the Liberation Army in the XIX century. It
announced that a machete conga, or rather, a cutthroat
charge against the invader, was about to happen
in the battlefield, in the name of desecrated
sovereignty.
