Permanent Bastion

Havana Province, Cuba. - Havana Province citizens closed last week dressed in olive green. The National Defense Day was due after some days engaged in the Strategic Exercise “Bastion 2009.”

They attended their appointment with weapons to preserve peace, sovereignty and the Revolution. Last Sunday, they manned their positions in shooting ranges, polygons, parks, factories, universities, mountains and shelters, in order to train for any attempt of imperialist aggression.

The strategic exercise “Bastion 2009” improved the military training of local leadership bodies and command posts. Last Sunday further increased the defensive capacity of the territory, since people’s participation was much wider.

Ulises Guilarte, President of Havana Province Defense Council, told the press that all the objectives were accomplished. He indicated that whatever was done to upgrade the military training of troops and people helps strengthening the defense of the territory.

The people of Havana Province returned last Monday to their customary jobs and schools with the same enthusiasm. They resumed their everyday chores to preserve the Revolution and ratified that Havana Province lives in a permanent Bastion of production and defense.
