Havana Province, Cuba. – This province of Cuban West
is getting ready for the XXIV National Surveillance Exercise,
organized every year by the Committees for the Defense of
the Revolution (CDR). Public activities will simultaneously
take place from December 16 to 19 in the 19 municipalities.
Enrique Urbino Gonzalez, member of the provincial secretariat
of this mass organization elaborated on some of the objectives
for this occasion. Concrete actions will be taken in the areas
with more troubles to organize the night watch. The relentless
struggle against social indiscipline will increase and the
links between local institutions and the neighborhoods will
be strengthened.
The National Police (PNR)
and Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) will be involved
in the exercise. In addition, 197 detachments of People’s
Revolutionary Surveillance will be activated, as well as 27
“Looking at the Sea” coastal detachments. The
latter are scattered in 8 municipalities of Havana Province.
The provincial secretary for surveillance also reported that
the CDRs thwarted 68 crimes during 2009. People’s massive
participation, in coordination with the PNR, helped clearing
up more than 70 aborted crimes.
Güines, Caimito, Santa Cruz del Norte, Batabano, San
Jose de las Lajas, Madruga and Alquizar are the municipalities
with more flaws in the struggle against misdemeanors in public
telephones.
