Havana Province, Cuba. - Thanks to the impact of science and technological innovations, the municipality of Bauta has achieved important changes in the economy, society, science, technology and environment.
In this territory of Havana Province, rice production increased thanks to the introduction of more efficient varieties and strategies, suggested by the Institute of Grains Research. Chinese ovens were installed in the whole network of bakeries. The commercialization of dentistry products in drug stores has remained steady, as well as the production of artificial teeth, made at the ACRILEST factory.
The operation of 130 units of solar panels in “Tauro” Meat Processing Plant is another outstanding achievement of science and technology in Bauta. It is estimated that around 135 liters of oil are saved daily in the water heating process. Some dairy farms have been renovated with the installation of automated milking systems, which allows for cleaner milk of higher quality. The use of biogas in “El Jigue” swine farm brings about remarkable saving of electric power and higher pork production at lower cost.
The accomplishments of Bauta are the result of the work of scientists, innovators, rationalizers, creators, educators and executives. All of them are entrusted with the responsibility of introducing scientific and technological breakthroughs for the benefit of society.
