Havana Province, Cuba. – There is a singular exhibition at the Institute of Research on Plants Health. The main achievements of Cuban agricultural science during 2009 are on display there.
The talent of Havana Province scientists and technicians is present in many of those works. Havana Province Department of Plants Health, Artemisa Territorial Station of Plants Protection and the Institute of Rice Research have all made praiseworthy contributions.
The exhibition is one of those actions that remind us of the moment when Fidel Castro predicted: “…The future of our country shall necessarily be a future of men of thinking, because that is precisely what we are sowing most. What we are mostly sowing are opportunities for intelligence...” Those words were said on January 15 1960, in a ceremony held in the Academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences.
Half a century after that memorable occasion, the scientists of Havana Province ratify the accuracy of the predictions made by the historical leader of the Revolution. This limited sample of their contributions to agricultural development shows their calling to serve and their creative will.
