Havana Province,
Cuba. – Once again, solidarity and fraternity write a
beautiful page in a moment of particular joy for the Cuban people.
Half a hundred members of the 26th contingent of the “Southern
Cross” Friendship Brigade, from Australia and New Zealand,
were welcomed last weekend at the “Julio Antonio Mella”
International Camp, in the municipality of Caimito, Havana Province.
This group of friends comes to join the Cubans in the celebrations
for the new anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution. This
date is not only celebrated by the children of this Island,
but also by all the people of good will that advocate justice
in the world.
Most Australian and New Zealander brigade members visit our
country for the first time. The largest Antillean Island has
so far welcomed nearly a thousand visitors from that region
of the world, like a solid bridge of friendship and solidarity
between peoples.
The visitors will have a tight agenda in these days of parties
and work. It includes days of voluntary work; visits to historical
places, like the monument to Che Guevara in Santa Clara; and
meetings with women, students and Cuban workers.
They will also receive lectures about the Cuban revolutionary
process and its justice system and meet with relatives of The
Five Cuban antiterrorist fighters, unjusty held in US prisons.
In addition, they will visit working centers, schools and the
Revolution Museum.
The exchange will be fruitful and in the end, the certainty
that a better world is possible will have grown.
