Havana Province, Cuba. – Havana Province team, current national champion, thrashed Metropolitanos, the second team of the capital, last weekend. The match was played at the “Santiago Mederos” ballpark in Havana City.

In first game, played last Friday, the Cowboys reached an agonizing victory of 1-0 over the weakest team of the tournament. On Saturday, after 6 innings of poor batting (2-1 game), Esteban Lombillo’s boys exploded and defeated their rivals 8-2. In the last game, Havana Province won with a 7-1 score.

After these results, Havana Province remains 5th in the western pool, closely behind Cienfuegos, the team ranking 4th. Sancti Spiritus, Pinar del Rio and Industriales continue holding, in that order, the first three places of the pool. Matanzas, Island of Youth and Metropolitanos rank below Havana Province.

The 49th National Baseball Series will continue this Tuesday. Havana Province will host Ciego de Avila. They will play at the “Nelson Fernandez” stadium, in San Jose de las Lajas, headquarters of the Cowboys.
