Havana Province, Cuba. - Cubans love baseball with infinite passion. For that reason, it is no surprise that writer Dagoberto Jose Valdes, born in Bauta, conceived a novel called “Perfect Game.” The book is dedicated to the national sport and will be presented next February at the International Book Fai. Its publishing house is “Unicorn”, based in Havana Province.
A pitcher is about to retire. As zero hour comes closer, he remembers the different events that led him to that crucial moment of his life. Three generations of players coincide in the field. They express their anguishes, victories and emotions in stadiums and the streets.
Dagoberto is a story teller and poet. He is part of the movement of literary workshops. He has won prizes and mentions in contests like “The Scribe President” (2004), “Jose Lezama Lima” (2005), “Alfredo Torroella” and Rafaela Chacon Nardi in Memoriam”, both in 2008. His short stories book “Triple Play” was published by “Ediciones Extramuros” publishing house in Havana, 2005.
“Perfect Game” goes beyond baseball referential framework. Baseball lover Dagoberto Jose Valdes (Bauta 1962) recreates the love for wife, friends and mainly his admiration for those Cuban players that have made and keep making history in our national sport.
