Havana Province, Cuba. - Last year, the economy of Quivican, 38 kilometers south of the Cuban capital, did very well. We must keep in mind that this municipality of Havana Province had more revenues than expenses, thus achieving surplus in its mercantile production.

Michel Concepcion, People’s Power President in that town of Cuban west, commended people’s efforts to finish building 12 new important facilities in that time. The most outstanding are “El Jagüey” social club and a bakery in the “Pablo Noriega” township. The cultural square of “La Salud” People’s Council was also renovated.

The local Trade and Gastronomy Enterprise ranks as another success of last year in Quivican. It is the only one in the municipality that works with cash flow and surpassed its plan in 112%. It also secured its raw materials supply and showed an appropriate sense of control and ownership, plus other elements instrumental to the output of local entities that also reached their productive goals.

The highest authority of the local government body commended centers like “Juan Bruno Zayas” Tobacco Deep-Drier, unique in the country and producing for exports. He also praised basic textile units; the “Eduardo Garcia Delgado” tobacco cleaner; “Caribbean Company” of canned food and vegetables and the crews of several poultry, swine and cattle farms.

Concepcion, the highest representative of Quivican people to Havana Province, commended those who helped Quivican stand 3rd in the Special Provincial Emulation for the 51st Anniversary of the Revolution. He congratulated the sectors of Higher Education, Water Supply, Transportation, Trade, Labor and Social Security, Ministries of Light and Sugar Industry and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) as a mass organization that contributed to such success.

There are achievements and goals yet to be reached, because all the concerns could not be dealt with. However, Havana Province people know how to deal with their priorities. They know just where to concentrate their efforts and most of all; they are willing to accept new challenges in order to continue conquering the future in 2010.
