Havana Province, Cuba. – Engineer Francisco Javier Lopez carries art in his hands. In addition to his attempts at music, he participated in 10 plastic arts exhibitions in the last decade.

Frank, as his friends and neighbors in Güines call him, was born in 1962. In 1984, he graduated in telecommunications engineering from the “Jose Antonio Echeverria” Polytechnic Higher Institute.

From 2000 to 2009, he has participated in collective exhibitions in the municipalities of Güines and San Antonio de los Baños, in Havana Province, and in Cotorro, in the capital city. His plastic works are also known in Spain, Panama, Mexico, Canada, United States, Venezuela and China.

The engineer and artist thinks that the essential is invisible to the eyes. He learnt this from his childhood readings and this teaching has accompanied him all his life. He proves it with his modesty and unpretentiousness.

He invited us to learn about the mixed technique he uses, as he worked in a new piece. He elaborated on the use of vegetable fibers from coconut and royal palm leaves, while he used husks, pods, pieces of wood and pebbles in his creation.
