Havana, Cuba.
- The schools are proud of the gray hair and appreciate the
experience of retired educators that returned to the classrooms.
Deysi Enriquez is one of those that joyfully restarted her teaching
life, heeding the Revolution’s appeal.
For her, a teacher is always a teacher. It is a birth gift and
the need to teach always remains alive. She joined “Camilo
Torres” High School on August 25 2008, to support the
training of general professors. She works as a tutor of this
new generation of educators that appreciates her experience,
her timely advices and her sweet and calm way of teaching.
Deysi is not afraid of generational differences, because she
began teaching when she was a young girl. That’s why she
sees herself reflected in her students. She maintains good communication
and is willing to learn from them.
She started as a literacy teacher in the mountains of the former
Oriente province and was founder of the Movement of Normalistas
Teachers. This was a young generation of educators that also
answered the call of the triumphant Revolution.
Deysi has devoted her life to teaching. She has dealt with changes
and transformations in diverse stages, because teaching is for
her, at all times, the collective building of knowledge, human
values and virtues.
